The office of business services of the Iowa Secretary of State Matt Schultz in Des Moines has the authority to issue apostilles in the State of Iowa. We will be happy to assist with obtaining an apostille from their office.

Considerations of school records (transcripts and diplomas) issued by the University of Iowa, Iowa State University of Science and Technology, University of Northern Iowa, Grinnell College and Drake University among others, please request from your University’s registrar office a certified and notarized official transcript and/or diploma. Also please request a letter from the Higher Learning Commission confirming that it is an accredited school.
Considerations for other notarized documents: The Iowa Secretary of State will authenticate or apostille signatures of notaries public in good standing and with current active commissions. Please note that public notaries are not authorized to notarize copies of court documents and vital records.
Considerations for vital records: Birth certificates, marriage certificates and death certificates must be issued by county clerk recorders and local registrars. Please take a look at the samples provided below.
