Standard Requirements for All Tourist Visas<\/h4>\n

1.) Applicant\u2019s Passport<\/strong>: The passport must be in good condition and valid for at least six more months.<\/p>\n

2.) Visa Application Form<\/strong>: Fill out the application on your computer, print it, and sign it manually. Do not complete the form by hand, and avoid using digital signatures. Link to form: cova.mfa.gov.cn<\/a><\/p>\n

Ensure all fields are filled in. If a section is not relevant to you, enter “None” or “N\/A.” After completing the form, do not click “Continue.” Instead, click “Save” and provide us with both the application number and your passport number. The form must be reviewed by us before submission.<\/p>\n

Please note, non-U.S. passport holders are only eligible to apply for Single or Double Entry visas.<\/p>\n

3.) Photo<\/strong>: Submit one clear, front-facing, colored passport-style photo. The background must be white, with no shadows on the face or background. The photo must be professionally taken within the last 6 months. Since 2017, photo standards have become stricter, so please review the specific photo requirements<\/a>. If the submitted photo does not meet these standards, it may be rejected, and you will be asked to provide a new one.<\/p>\n

4.) Itinerary<\/strong>: Provide a copy of your round-trip flight tickets or a detailed reservation for your trip. The document must include the applicant’s name, flight numbers, arrival and departure dates, and the reservation code issued by the airline or cruise company.<\/p>\n

5.) Hotel Confirmation<\/strong>: Submit a copy of hotel reservations for all the accommodations you will stay at during your visit.<\/p>\n

6.) Personal Invitation<\/strong>: If you are visiting friends or family, you must submit a letter of invitation from your host in China. The letter should be addressed to the “Consulate General of China, Visa Section” and signed by the host.<\/p>\n

The letter must include the following details:<\/p>\n

\u2022 Applicant’s personal information: full name, gender, date of birth, and passport details.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Visit details: dates of the trip, purpose of the visit, places to visit, and accommodations.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Information about the host: full name, address, phone number, and their relationship to the applicant.<\/p>\n

You will also need to submit a copy of your host’s Chinese permanent residence permit, showing both the front and back sides. If your host is not a Chinese citizen, provide copies of their China residence permit and the data pages of their passport.<\/p>\n

If you are visiting a family member who is working in China, you must also include a letter from the Chinese company (on official company letterhead). This letter should confirm the family member\u2019s employment status in China and state that they will be responsible for your living arrangements and expenses during your stay.<\/p>\n

7.) Copy of Photo ID<\/strong>: Provide a copy of your driver’s license or state ID.<\/p>\n

8.) Copy of Previous Chinese Visa<\/strong>: If you have previously obtained a Chinese visa, submit a copy of the prior visa. If your passport has been renewed, include a copy from the former passport.<\/p>\n

New Requirements<\/h4>\n

First-Time Applicants with Chinese Parents<\/strong>
\nFirst-time applicants, regardless of age, who have Chinese parents must provide the following:<\/p>\n

\u2022 A copy of their birth certificate<\/p>\n

\u2022 Copies of their parents’ passports<\/p>\n

\u2022 Proof of their parents’ legal status at the time of the applicant’s birth<\/p>\n

If these documents are unavailable, a travel document will be issued.<\/p>\n

First-Time Applicants of Asian Descent<\/strong>
\nApplicants who appear to be of Asian descent must provide their birth certificate and copies of their parents’ passports.<\/p>\n

Current U.S. Citizen Born in Foreign Countries<\/strong>
\nIf you were born outside the U.S. and are now a U.S. citizen, you must submit a copy of your citizenship certificate and your former passport.<\/p>\n

Applicants Who Have Traveled to Turkey<\/strong>
\nIf you have traveled to Turkey, you must provide your travel history for the past 5 years if applying in New York, or for the past 1 year if applying elsewhere.<\/p>\n

Additional Requirements for Non-US Citizens<\/h4>\n

\u2022 Proof of Legal Stay<\/strong>: Provide a legal document to prove of long-term stay in the U.S. such as a green card, H or TN\/TD work visa, or foreign student I-20 form. These documents may be submitted as a notarized copy (with every page copied), or the original document will be required.<\/p>\n

Additional Requirements for Minors<\/h4>\n

\u2022 Application Form<\/strong>: Application form must be signed by both parents<\/strong>.
\n\u2022 Birth certificate<\/strong>: A copy of the applicant’s birth certificate.
\n\u2022 Parents’ Passports<\/strong>: A copy of the data pages from both parents’ signed passports.<\/p>\n

When applying for a child with Chinese parents<\/strong>, the applicant must also provide proof of parents’ status in the United States.<\/p>\n

Additional Requirements for Applicants Born in China, Hong Kong, Macau, or Taiwan<\/h4>\n

\u2022 Chinese Name<\/strong>: The applicant’s name written in Chinese characters.
\n\u2022 Proof of Name Chang<\/strong>e: If the applicant’s name has changed since birth, include a copy of the court order or marriage certificate documenting the name change.
\n\u2022 Previous Visa<\/strong>: Copy of a previously issued Chinese visa or copy of the data page from your Chinese, Hong Kong, Macau, or Taiwanese passport. If your old passport is still valid, the original must be submitted with the application.<\/p>\n
